Large scale tape verification with of cta-ops-verify-tape

Hello,

We would like to be able to use the cta-ops-verify-tape tool to verify tapes on a large scale in our infrastructure. The way we envisage to do this is by running a wrapper Bash script which will call the tool whenever a tape needs to be verified.

In order to do this, it would be useful if the tool could generate, at the end of the verifaction, a message indicating the success/failure of the verification as well as the drive that was mounted for this purpose. If the output of the drive name is not possible, then the addition of flag that allows the dedication of the verification job to a drive would be also useful.

Thanks,

George

Hi George,

It looks like the cta-tape-verification-feeder [1] tooling provides a lot of the functionality you’re asking about here. We should investigate it and see if it meets our needs.

If anyone from CERN has any updates on the verification process currently in-use, if it differs from the documentation, we would be interested to hear about it.

Cheers,
Tom
